Custom Silicone Products: What to Prepare Before Requesting a Quote

31 Oct, 2026
Prepare a clearer silicone product inquiry with drawings, quantities, material requirements, sample checks, branding and packaging details for your project.

A useful silicone product inquiry starts with a clear brief. You do not need every technical detail on day one, but separating confirmed requirements from open questions helps both sides understand the project. Whether you are adapting an existing model or discussing a new design, the checklist below can help you prepare for a quotation and a sample review.

1. Describe the product and its intended use

Tell us what the product should do, who will use it and where it will be sold. Include the intended environment and any contact, cleaning or performance requirements relevant to that use. A kitchen accessory, a protective part and a promotional item may require different discussions. If you are unsure which material specification is appropriate, state the use rather than selecting a grade from an unrelated product listing.

2. Share a drawing, sample or reference

If you have a design, provide dimensions, key features and the latest revision. Identify any dimensions that affect fit or assembly. A reference image can communicate appearance, but it may not show wall thickness, tolerances or internal structure. If a physical sample is available, mention it in the inquiry. For sensitive designs, discuss confidentiality requirements before sending detailed files.

If you are starting from an existing SILPART model, include its product link and a short list of changes. Distinguish a color or branding request from a change in shape or function so the team can assess the scope.

3. Define material, feel and appearance requirements

Provide any confirmed material or hardness specification. If these are undecided, describe the required feel, flexibility and operating conditions, and share a suitable reference if you have one. Color references are helpful, but screen images should not be the only basis for approving a physical color. Agree how color, texture and appearance will be checked before production.

State the destination market and any required tests or documents. Ask which evidence can be provided for the specific product, material and intended use. A report for another product should not be assumed to cover your project.

4. Include quantity, branding and packaging

Give an estimated first-order quantity and any expected repeat demand. If you are comparing different quantities, list them separately. Minimum order quantities and prices need to be confirmed against the design, material, color, tooling and packaging requirements of the project.

For branding, share your logo artwork, preferred position and approximate size. For packaging, describe the format, pack quantity, languages and any label information you need. Ask the team to confirm suitable options and which costs are included in the quotation. Do not assume that every existing model supports the same customization method.

5. Agree what the sample must demonstrate

Before approving production, agree what you will inspect. Depending on the product, this may include dimensions, fit, feel, appearance, branding, packaging and performance in its intended use. Record the sample version and any changes requested. Clarify whether the sample represents the final material, color and production method, and identify anything that still needs confirmation.

6. Separate production timing from arrival timing

Tell us your preferred arrival date and destination. Ask for a project schedule that accounts for review, tooling if required, sample approval, production, packaging and shipping. An existing product's listed lead time should not be treated as a promise for a new custom design. Confirm when the schedule starts and what changes could affect it.

Start with a clear project brief. Explore the customization discussion points on our Custom Silicone page. When you are ready, send your project inquiry with your product reference, intended use, quantity, destination and open questions. SILPART's silicone development and manufacturing contact is export@silpartsilicone.com. Mark any undecided requirement as “to be confirmed” so it can be reviewed before the quotation is finalized.
